AltaPixShare - free image optimization and sharing

AltaPixShare0

DownloadSmallYou're having a chat on Skype with a friend of yours, talking about your last holiday, and then you want to send him some pictures. Your new 16 megapixel camera takes amazing pictures, so you drop them in the chat window, and... it takes forever to send them! In fact, each photo is bigger than 6 megabytes, so sending just 20 pictures requires more than 100 megabytes of bandwidth usage. And your friend is just watching those photos on a PC screen, which has a 1 to 2 megapixel resolution, so nearly 90% of the transferred resolution is wasted.

So a simple solution would be opening each picture in an image editor, rescaling it, saving it with a different name and, finally, dropping the new file to the chat window. Boring for just an image, do you really want to repeat it for each picture?

Luckily, there's a simpler, quicker and free solution, AltaPixShare! Just drop the pictures in the app, choose the rescaling factor with a single mouse click, and optionally apply an image effect, then drop them all to the chat window with a single mouse gesture.

AltaPixShare1

Select the images in Windows Explorer, and drop them in the black area. You can keep adding images by dragging them in that area, up to 20 pictures.

AltaPixShare2

The selected images appear on the list on the left, clicking on a thumbnail opens the full image on the main area. The Clear list button removes all the pictures from the list; to remove a single picture from the list, select its thumbnail then press the Del key. The View menu contains the following options: Full, which shows the full image, rescaling it to make it fit inside the window, and Zoom, which does not rescale the image so, if the image is larger than the view window, only a portion of the picture will be visible at a time.

AltaPixShare3

For each picture, you can choose the size of the resulting image:

  • Full, the same size of the source image
  • Medium, half the width and the height of the source image
  • Small, a quarter of the width and the height of the source image

The smaller the resolution of the output image, the smaller the size in bytes of the output image.

Optionally, you can apply an effect to the output image: Black / White, Sepia, Lomography and PopArt.

Three geometric effects are also also available: Bloat, FishEye and Whirl.

If you want to apply a Size setting or Effect to all open pictures, keep the Shift key pressed when clicking on the button on the toolbar.

AltaPixShare4

When you have finished with the settings, press down the mouse button on the Drag from here to target app button and drag to the target window, e.g. the Skype chat window. Done! The pictures will be converted and attached to the current conversation.

AltaPixShare is a free image resizing software for Windows. Instead of offering a lot of different options for resizing images, you get to change their size just by dragging and dropping them first onto the queue of this free image resizer and then from the queue to whatever location or application you would like to save or send them. Several different color and geometric effects are also available and can be applied during resizing.

Large black area in the bottom right corner of the interface is the image preview area, where you can see how images and photos are gonna look like once they’re resized and effects applied. Next to the drag and drop, photos can also be opened and saved using the Open and Save buttons in the top left corner of the screen.

Even though we said you don’t get to change a lot of options, that’s not entirely true. You can select three default size settings for images, full, medium and small, and of course color and geometric effects, all of which are available from the top toolbar. Key features of this free image resizing software are:

  • Easy to setup image resizing – open/save files using drag and drop
  • Default size presets – resize by simply selecting small, medium or full if you want to preserve image size
  • Color effects – black/white, sepia, lomography, popart
  • Geometric morphing effects – bloat, fish eye, twirl with effect strength settings

You can probably see how this type of quick resizing can be very useful when you are trying to send images over chat, in Skype, Yahoo Messenger and so on, but your camera creates large images. Normally you would need to use image resizer which are not always easy to setup, but here you just need to drag and drop images to and from. Here’s a few pointers to help you get started.

How to resize quickly using drag and drop with AltaPixShare

You first need to drag and drop the images that you would like to convert to the large black empty area, see first image above. Open button can also be used for that. Photos will be added to the list in the bottom left sidebar, underneath the Drag from here to target app button. That’s the button which you need to use to export the resized images and photos using drag and drop, but only after you’ve selected the size for the new image and effect that you would like to use. For example if you would like to export a resized image to the hard drive, go over the size and effects first, and then drag the Export button to the hard drive location where you want images saved. Same thing goes for instant messaging chat windows, drag and drop also works with them.

AltaPixShare does everything as advertised. Images are resized right away, without having to change or tweak any kind of complicated settings. In just a few clicks, and drag and drops your images will be resized and ready to be shared with everyone. - ILoveFreeSoftware.com

AltaPixShare Is A Photo Resizer, Styler & Sharing App For Windows With A Great UI

They say sharing is caring. Sharing photos with your folks is probably the best way to rekindle old and good memories. Due to the advancements in technologies such the high availability of home and mobile broadband internet access, along with various image sharing websites and services, the process of sharing photos with others has become much more easier than it was a few years ago. Though at places where you don’t have access to high speed internet, for instance a trip to the countryside, it can be a bit hard to instantly share your high resolution photos, especially if they are fairly large in size. The best way would be to resize the images to a smaller size before you send them to others. If you require to instantly do that, AltaPixShare has an answer. This lightweight Windows app streamlines and unifies the processes of photo resizing and sharing, and even lets you apply a few filters to them in the process.

The app basically allows you to resize and share the photos from a single interface, making sharing photos on IM services, photo sharing websites, email, and other similar file transfer mediums a breeze. You just have to drag and drop the images from AltaPixShare into the required service such as Skype, and you’re done!

To get started, load the images that need to be resized and shared by clicking the Open button. Afterwards, select the output resolution of photos among full, medium and small. You can also spruce up the images by applying a few photo effects like black & white, sepia, lomography, popart etc. Next, just drag the image to the required window via ‘Drag from here to target app’ button. Alternatively, you can also store images to your local drive by clicking Save. The application allows you to send or store multiple images in a batch as well.

You can also add three different Geometric Effects to the images by clicking the G.Effects button on the toolbar. Along with adding the effects, which include Bloat, Fisheye and Twirl, it’s also possible to adjust their intensity. In addition, the application enables you to zoom in and out of the the image preview. If you require to add new images from scratch, simply click the Clear list button to remove existing images from the list.- AddictiveTips.com

- SoftAndApps.info
